General Description: Kaia-Mai is very small in size; smaller then most children her age. Because of her stature she's never attempted to physically fight: considering herself far too small for feats such as that.

Her hair is exceptionally long and thick with a slight wave in it; her hair goes down to the bottom of her buttocks: it's often worn either down or back in braided pig tails which are held together at the ends with deep blue colored ribbons. Her eyes are a pale blue in color, more white then blue. Her skin is a natural light tan in color, causing her eyes to stand out even more.

Her usual outfit is that of a school aged girl; a pleated black skirt with white lining to it near the bottom edge, a bright white short sleeved button up collared dress shirt, with a black vest with white lining over top of it along the edges. Stockings that go up halfway up her thighs are a deep blue in color, and she wears black polished heel-less dress shoes that are in the style of 'flats'.  



Personality: Kaia is a very soft spoken and quiet child: almost nearly mute since her parents died. She prefers to listen and watch rather than even attempt to engage or stand out at all when it comes to conversations. This has done wonders for her in the long run though, as she can easily pick up on things – information, basic knowledge – and she doesn't forget things quite as easily as the average person might.

She can often be considered skid-dish, known to easily frighten due to past events in her life. While she won't flee from combat, she does try and avoid it at all costs. However, when forced to fight she shows intelligence and planning not often seen in such a young child: she prefers to handle things as easily as possible, and is excellent when it comes to strategies.

For those that Kaia warms up to, those who get to know her very well, she can be seen as a very loving and caring child. She's highly affectionate. Kaia often loves doing little things such as making gifts for those she cares about.

Her personal pleasure is dancing and music: it's one of the few times that the real Kaia truly comes out. When she's listening to music and dancing she often loses herself to it completely; forgetting about her fears and apprehensions and truly becoming the young child that she still is deep inside.

History: Kaia's story is a very tragic one, but it did not start out that way. She was born to two village shinobi who had fallen in love after years of working together. They loved their daughter very much and Kaia loved them. When Kaia was born she was sickly; she came a month early and it took a miracle mixed in with some excellent medical ninjutsu to save both her life and the life of her mother. Even still both mother and child spent months in the hospital afterward until they were both cleared medically and allowed to leave. The doctors warned her parents that due to the conditions of her birth Kaia would likely remain much smaller, thinner, then the average child and would likely not rise up to become strong at physical combat.

When the pair weren't off on missions they spent their time training their daughter and teaching her the ways of the shinobi from a very young age, though the words of the doctors always remained in their heads. They taught the physical arts to Kaia in theory, and she got down the basics. However, due to her naturally small size it never went beyond that. Kaia excelled at ninjutsu and genjutsu, and the mind games that her parents often played with her. She also showed an interest, even as a very young child, in the field of medical ninjutsu: something her parents played off as having to do with part of her 'sickness' when she was a baby.

Around the age of five years old Kaia's biological father and mother went off on a mission. Kaia was never told the details of the job, all she knew was that it had to be important for both of her parents to be sent off at the same time. Kaia was left in the care of an elderly neighbor while her parents were away. They were gone nearly two weeks, and upon coming back Kaia found that both of them had been grievously injured: this only pushed the child further into wanting to be able to help.

She spent every waking moment at the hospital during the two months it took her parents to recuperate, often asking the doctors and various medical staff questions about anything and everything that they were doing: to her surprise it didn't seem to annoy or bother them, they instead welcomed her questions and were more then willing to share their knowledge.

When her parents were well enough they were released home, and while she was glad to see that her parents were better, she was sad to leave the hospital and all of the knowledge that it held. Things returned to normal for a week after that, until the most tragic thing that could ever happen to a child did. The mission that her parents had been sent on was a high ranked mission to kill a missing-nin from their village. Little did they know this missing-nin had teamed up with several others to form a group. This group had come seeking revenge after figuring out who it was that had caused the death of their comrade.

Kaia awoke to her parents screams of terror, yelling for her to run, to flee for her life. Kaia tried to do just that, but she was captured. Her parents torture went on for hours right in front of her until they were killed, and by the time the ordeal was over Kaia was so frightened that she would believe anything the missing-nin said: which was precisely what they were hoping for. Kaia was told by the leader of the group that if she ever spoke to anyone, that if she ever said what she had saw or spoke even a single word at all, that he would come back and do to her what he had done to her parents. Kaia believed him.

When the authorities arrived days later – having been alerted by the smell of the decaying bodies – they found Kaia curled in a ball nearby, wide eyed in terror, and refusing to speak. After the bodies were taken away and the child cleared medically she was sent to an orphanage.

Orphanages of course were never kind places, and the children there often tended to lash out – they tended to pick on those weaker then them. Kaia was weaker then them, smaller then them, and she became their new target for the bullying, more so after they found out she was mute. Now where Kaia's life might lead is up to anyone's guess, but surely fate wouldn't have put her here without a purpose...

RP Sample: Kaia felt the shove come from behind as it had happened before in the past. It was a shove hard enough to knock her forward and send the young female dressed in her schoolgirl outfit falling onto her hands and knees. “Stupid mute!”, the boy-child behind her called out among the laughter of his friends.

Kaia mentally told herself not to cry, not to give them the satisfaction of knowing that she was hurt as she slowly got to her knees. Her schoolbag which had been hanging from her shoulder had broken open when she fell, books having spilled everywhere. Kaia sat back on her knees, and attempted to pick them up. However, as she reached out for the books one of the boys kicked them away and out of her reach, sending her favorite book skidding right into a puddle: it had taken her months to earn the money for that book and now it was ruined.

“Come on you stupid mute! Speak up!”

“She can't! Ever since her family got all cut up she can't talk!”

“Stupid mute couldn't even save her own family!”

Kaia felt her hands clench into fists as a reaction to her anger, but she knew there was nothing she could do. Even if she tried to hit one of them they were bigger then her, she would lose. Her only hope was to pray that someone would come along, walking along the sidewalk that surrounded the orphanages playground yard, and scare the kids away. Or, that the matron would look out her window and see that they had once again ganged up on her.

One day Kaia would be able to fight, one day she would be able to stand up for herself. But today wasn't that day.
