Kotaro Rumble in The Jungle Week 1|Mission

Ahhh yes, the dense forest that cursed the lands Hana no Kuni. Today for a prune of a woman, Kotaro would be trudging such lands in search of a plant. The plant isn't such an oddity, fairly common, but only int he densest and thickest inner most areas of the forest of Hana no Kuni. It was understandable given he woman's age, but still it was such a petty task, something Recruit level soldiers should be tasked with. But Kotaro gladly took such a task given it got him out the village. It reminded him of the old times when he roamed the land freely, now he's lucky to see outside the walls of the damned village. Taking his sweet time, arms up linked around the back of his head, the Captain smiled the air of the wilderness with full lungs. "Ahhh such a wild odor, clean . .. yet so vile." He smiled as he cruised through the forest at a walking pace with not a sense of urgency in his body. Soon enough a jazzy tune was being emitted in the atmosphere as he walked to a rhythm to that of the percussion noises coming from his own mouth. Before he stopped. HIs crimson eyes falling to the forest floor, he crouched with a peculiar expression on his face likened to that of a feline seeing something for the first time. Grabbing the object by the stem he plucked it from the loose and healthy earth, one could tell from the smooth resistance the roots supplied that the soil was healthy around these parts. " One, two, three . . ." He continued to count the petals to the appropriate amount and assumed he found his flower given it fit the description. Gathering the needed amount, he carefully made his way through the cluttered vegetation back to the ladies quarters. "Heya old coot, here's those flowers you wanted. I grabbed a few extra just in case." The woman turned to him with a look of scorn due to the title she was given. A sheepish smile sent to her in reply to her nasty expression, Kotaro set the flora down and departed. "Maybe I should stay out here and play hooky for a while since I'm out the village." Such devious thoughts, by the Captain, but regardless he returned to Hanagakure no Sato with his mission complete.

"Hmm?" Kotaro's eyes narrowed at the sight of so many gathered at the gates of the village. Ohhh, perhaps I'm getting a birthday party?! He chuckled to himself in light amusement due to the fact he didn't remember when his own birthday was. Of course he wasn't serious however, but it was such an odd sight to see so many numbers in one area unless something was happening. Taking off his casual mask, the facade of a dedicated Captain was put on as a Soldier approached and saluted to him. "Captain Fuma, I hope your mission wen-" Kotaro put a hand up, these mannerisms far outside his normal way of acting, but to those within the ranks of Hanagakure no Sato and those who worked with him were quite familiar with it. To them, this was the real Kotaro Fuma. "No extra talk, give me the report, what's going on." The soldier swallowed his saliva hard in astonishment. "The- there's a fire moving towards the village, two other Captains have rounded us up and are still gathering more." Kotaro nodded and scanned the masses in front of him, before clearing his throat to give orders. "Listen up." He shouted as they all quieted down. "I'll lead you guys as the first wave, while the Captains still gathering forces will lead the waves after. If you have no skill in ninjutsu or using the fire, water, or earth elements, find yourself a shovel and begin digging trenches about half a mile from the village as a last line of defense. Everyone else follow me to take tis thing head on." Everyone scrambled in chaos, but after a while it became much more organized when everyone figured out where they were going and the first wave was moving out.

Into the forest, the wildlife was running for their lives past the Hanagakure no Sato troops as if they weren't even there. The air growing thick with smog and the sky darkening, Kotaro raised his hand as a signal. "Start digging here, the rest lets keep going." With that, they got to work, Kotaro now picked up his pace and soon enough was welcomed with the sight of the burning inferno. "Fire element users, split up and create back burns to combat the fire. Make sure you're burning in the correct direction or you'll just make things worse. Water users, simple go fight the fire head on and keep the vegetation hydrated. Earth users, we'll work to smother the fire with the water users. Am I understood!" Everyone gave a booming yessir in unison and like ants in an army they went to work. For a moment Kotaro simply supervised to make sure everything was going well, but soon hough he found himself engaging in the fire fight too. The fire was burning too hard and at this rate they wouldn't stop it. Even using his Swamp of the Underworld technique, the flames were burning trees and things alike too high in the canopy to be fully phased. Then resulting to his Earth Tearing Palm, the range was moderate, but still not large enough to swallow enough of the hell fire. Pausing for a moment, he knew they were losing, but the sound of steps, no hundreds of steps, coming from behind gave the Captain a reassuring break. It was the second wave. "Went on ahead of us and started the fight on your own huh Captain Fuma." It was one of the Captains and the other was right beside her, but had his eyes steady on the forest fire. "I trust you guys knew how to split up your Soldiers." They nodded and in due time the fire was being beat, then all that was left was to smother the controlled back burner fire and make sure each and every ember was put out. Afterwards the Doton users worked to sift the soil from beneath the debris on top to make sure the fire wouldn't be reborn and to help decomposition, so the forest would regrow quickly.
