Spoiler:

Beep... Beep...
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
BEEP. BEEP! BEEP!

“Ngh…” Senri groaned as he heard his alarmclock breaking through his dreams and pulling him back into the land of the living, his green eyes fluttering for a moment before opening to stair up at the ceiling of his one room flat. Giving a loud yawn he pushed himself up onto his side, reaching over to turn off the annoying shrieking as Ōkami began to nose at his foot that was sticking out of his comforter. He curled his toes and pulled his foot back under the blanket, her nose much too cold this early in the morning.  The brunet gave a soft hum before pushing himself up into a sitting position and stretching. His bed felt comfortable, and he would probably have killed to sleep in some more, but he had a busy day ahead of him and the clock read 5:45 am. Today was a day packed with jobs for a soldier like him. They were lesser jobs, but he didn't really mind it. They got him ryo, and eventually when he had enough of them he'd be able to rank out without much of a fuss.

With a slight groan he reached over to stroke Ōkami's soft white fur. “C'mon girl... you need to get up too. You're coming with me today.” He muttered, giving her a little nudge as he moved to stand. She gave him a small woof of complaint before following after him as he prepared for the say. A shower, getting dressed, breakfast for the both of them, and then some meditation, contortion or flute playing. Their mornings normally followed this routine, always up early, and into action. As much as bed was comfortable, Senri hated to waist time. So here he was pulling on his kit and moving towards the door, at promptly seven o'clock, to walk towards the pool. His first mission of the day was to help out with the traditional swim day for the academy, and he wasn't exactly content with the idea of it. He'd never gone to the academy as such, so he didn't really know what to expect from the day.

Admittedly, Senri was a little anxious. One: He had no idea what to expect. Two: He had to deal with children much younger than himself, and he'd had zero experience with that. The three years that he'd been in Hanagakure he'd kept to himself, training and learning as much as he could, and that didn't leave time for little kids. Even if he found them endearing... sort of. And Three: He really didn't like being around large bodies of water... Sure, a pool wasn't really that big, but after being found at the side of a river half drowned with no memory of how he'd wound up like that, water just gave him a weird feeling. It wasn't really a fear per-say as he now knew to handle himself around water, but it was a cautiousness. Water could be a dangerous thing, and he and Ōkami hated the thunderstorms that the village had. It made him think that there was going to be a flood sometimes. Senri wrinkled his nose a bit as he arrived at the pool before entering and going straight out to the pool side to wait for the students and teachers to arrive. He was not going to change into a bathing suit. He'd handle what he had to with his kimono on, thank you very much.

It was eight when the classes of children of various ages began to arrive with each of their specified teachers. He could clearly see why they needed the help of himself and some other military soldiers that were there currently to help them out as they had been instructed to. They were way out numbered, even with the help that they had amassed. He hadn't even known that there were that many kids residing in the village. It was a little ridiculous. Still, he did as he was ordered. He watched the group of children that he had been assigned to. A group of fifteen children ages nine to eleven. He was one of the lucky ones, getting slightly older kids. It was the ones who were eight and younger that seemed to cause the most trouble during the trip, even though his group wasn't exactly innocent little angel's either. All the kids had some mischief up their sleeve. However, he also had the added benefit of Ōkami being there with him. And really, he was pretty sure, that although she let the children pet her, they were also in awe of her. They behaved the most when she was eyeing them, as though she'd attack them if they misbehaved... and he let them think that, even adding a few words to solidify that fear by showing them the scars on his arm. He didn't really tell them a story about what had happened, because he didn't believe in lying to anyone, but showing them was enough. He'd let their minds wander about what had really happened to him, and just seeing the awe on each of their small faces was enough.

Senri was quite surprised over all that he found himself to enjoy watching the kids at the pool. Sure, he got splashed a few times, but watching them really wasn't that bad over all. He made sure that each of the children did their laps and kept them out of trouble, and he enjoyed seeing his wolfdog getting fawned over. She was absolutely stunning and powerful, and she deserved the attention that the children gave her. Sometimes he couldn't give her just that amount when they were out in the world with people watching. Still by the time it was time for the children to leave and go back to school at noon, he admitted that it was a little sad. He and Ōkami had had a lot of fun with the future soldiers, and he hoped one day to see them in the ranks like he was. They had potential from what he could see. With a smile, he dried himself off from the splashes that he had received and headed off with his loyal companion. It was time for a quick lunch before his next scheduled mission of the day.

Spoiler:

Lunch was a relatively quick affair for the pair after the leaving the pool. As it was a little after noon when they finally got to leave, making sure that everything was still in order after having many children in the vicinity. And now they had only half an hour before they needed to be at the next place. So, street food it was. It was a good thing that they had to pass through the market district to get to the home of the old woman who had requested help finding a shoe of all things. Still, a low ranking soldier couldn't exactly pick and choose what they were given to do. He'd learned that fact fairly early on, and finding a shoe wasn't the worst thing he could have been sent to do. There were many more gritty tasks. Passing through the market Senri chuckled as his wolfdog padded straight up to one of their common haunts that they went to when they were rushed to eat something. It was an Okonomiyaki stall, and they usually had some ready for people who needed it quickly rather than making their customers wait for it to be made fresh.

Sure, fresh Okonomiyaki was the best, but he didn't really mind it when it had been prepared only a few minutes before at the most. The savory pancakes were always delicious. When it came to be their turn in the line he ordered their usual and within seconds was walking down the street with two of the pancakes. Senri only stopped so that they could eat once he was sure that they were going to make it to the old woman's house on time. He sat on a bench and pulled Ōkami's Okonomiyaki out of the bag and handed it to her before taking his own out and beginning to eat it. They had time, so he relaxed back on the bench as they ate, staring up at the sky. It was a relatively clear day, but that didn't mean that it wasn't going to wind up either raining or drizzling. The weather of the area was so temperamental. As he finished his Okonomiyaki Senri gave a soft sigh and tossed the wrappers in the near by trash can before approaching the home of the woman with Ōkami behind him. Ōkami could sometimes be a startling appearance for some individuals, so he didn't really want to risk startling their client.

Knocking on the door, Senri waited patiently for someone to come to the door, and he greeted the old woman who finally did with a polite  bow of his head. “Hello. I was sent to this residence to help someone find a find a shoe?” He informed the woman with a small smile, introducing himself. The woman seemed delighted to have the help and beckoned him inside of her residence, not bothered by the appearance of the wolfdog that followed her master into the home. When he asked the woman what the shoe looked like and couldn't really describe it to him, Senri raised an eyebrow slightly before sighing and nodding. He'd find the woman's shoe even without the woman giving him a description. It was his mission, so he'd complete it. He searched around the woman's home for a while before the old woman finally explained that it wasn't going to be in her home, like it had just come to her that it probably wouldn't be there. Then again, the woman couldn't tell him where the shoe would be. That was a little annoying. The less information the woman gave him the harder it was going to be to find it.

Senri pursed his lips as he tried to get more information from the woman before finally giving up and giving Ōkami one of the woman's not-lost-shoes to smell so that she could take the woman's scent before they headed back out into the village to search. It took them about two hours to finally find the shoe in question. It was a little muddy, since it had rained since the woman had lost it, but there it was just sitting there. Senri huffed as Ōkami took it in her mouth and tossed it towards him, and he caught it with a chuckle.

"Alright, lets get back to her then and drop this off. We've got another couple missions to do, Ami." He hummed to his companion, cleaning the shoe off for a bit and waving the shoe before trudging back towards the woman's home. It was a relatively quick drop off when they finally arrived at four with the shoe. The woman was brilliantly pleased to see her possession again, definitely assuring Senri that it was the correct shoe even though she hadn't been able to describe it to him earlier. Still, he wasn't bothered. He'd completed his task and the woman was happy with the result, and that meant that he was going to be paid. He gave the woman another polite bow before departing with Ōkami at his side, moving towards the next task that he had to complete that day.

Spoiler:

Having left the old woman with her shoe, Senri and Ōkami ventured back towards the market center of the village again and towards the post office. The next three missions on his list were very similar in what needed to be done to complete them, so he decided to combine them and do them all together. Each involved something that needed to be delivered, which meant it was probably going to cause him to do a lot of running around. He didn't really understand why a soldier had to take the place of an actual work position that someone could be given, but it wasn't really his place to complain. And why should he? As long as he got paid it was fine. Besides, it wasn't like he hadn't done odds-and-ends jobs before. And as a plus, perhaps he’d even treat it as something of a cardio work out, keeping up the pace of the movements. For the both he and Ōkami a cardio workout would be good, and they could even split up to cover the area faster. Perhaps they'd even have time to have dinner before reporting in for the night-guard mission that he had been given.  It was four now... if they finished by six, that'd give them a full hour before needing to report to the market owners that had requested the presence of a soldier to protect their goods.

Entering the post office, Senri quickly moved to the front and looked at the man with a serious expression. “Senri Kawa reporting. I'm here to get the letters that need to be delivered by this evening.” He introduced himself to the man with a slight incline of his head, and soon the man was riffling through a rather large packet of letters, handing three to Senri. Letters respectively addressed to a Lee, Yen, and Kei. Looking at the addresses as he walked out of the post office, Senri compared the two addresses that he had yet to pick up from as well. Luckily one of the letters was close to the drop point of a package that he was to deliver to an individual who's name would be written on the package. With a hum he gave the other two letters for Lee and Yen to Ōkami and telling her where to go before they each went their separate ways. Ōkami would meet him at the drop point for the package after they were both finished.

Senri swiftly made his way to Kei's home, and put the letter into the mailbox before turning on his heel and making his way to the pick up point for the package that he had to deliver. It was a non-descript package, simply wrapped in brown paper with a simple address written on it. And lucky, lucky. The individual that needed the package dropped off with them was right near Hoshi, the man that needed the delivery of a fragile glass ornament. Senri remained at the pick up point for just a moment, waiting for Ōkami to arrive. When the wolfdog finally did, they set off to deliver the package to the individual that needed it, keeping names quiet. There was no need for it with this sort of package drop off, especially when it dealt with money. Pocketing the money that he received from the individual, he then raced to Hoshi's. He was going to finish up his job first before returning to the pick up point to distribute the money properly.

Hoshi's glass work was stunning, and he found himself staring at the delicate ornament as the man packaged it right in front of him. Perhaps one day he'd have to commission the man for an ornament of his own. Possibly.  For right now though, that was probably out of his low price range for just about everything. Still, he enjoyed watching the man work, packing up the ornament with such care. It was clear that the man really did love his chosen craft and his creations. And, for once, Senri found himself relaxing and giving the man a genuine smile as he accepted the package, listening to the man ramble about how important it was for the package to be handled delicately. Assuring the man that there was nothing to worry about, he and Ōkami took off towards the recipient, Hiro's, abode. It was a half an hour walk from Hoshi's to Hiro's, mostly because Senri watched his speed to make sure that he wasn't jostling the package. He really didn't want to damage the art that was the glass ornament. Arriving at the door, he knocked and waited for Hoshi to open the door. Once he did, making sure that the man was indeed the recipient, he handed off the package and departed, content that the ornament was indeed not broken. He was sure that Hiro would be raving about Hoshi's work for days to come. It was truly a beautiful trinket.

Content with his delivery work, it was time for Senri to return to the pick up point to distribute the money. And not having to be careful about anything breakable, be and Ōkami decided to race each other to the point, moving as fast as they possibly could. Both were panting by the time they arrived at the point, and Senri's cheeks were a little red. Ōkami had won of course. After all, she had four legs while he only had too. Chuckling he moved over to where he was supposed to place the ryo and divided it up, taking his fair share of it. Humming he waved the money towards Ōkami's nose for a moment before motioning for the wolfdog to follow him. They had enough time for dinner before the next and final mission of their long day. So off they walked, moving to find a nice place to eat and relax for just about an hour. They still had a long night ahead of them, and they were going to need a nice meal.
