While many sites claim the AU (Alternate Universe) distinction, very few go beyond a slight history change, or adjusting the time period they are working in. The vast majority of the time, you're looking at really good ideas being constrained by the weight of series canon. We've taken things a step further. While we still operate within the over-arching universe of Naruto, we've found a way to move beyond the usual restrictions while still being able to retain the heart and soul of the series.

Consider for a moment that the universe is just one of many, maybe an infinite number of different dimensions all existing simultaneously together within the vast reaches of infinity. Most would recognize this as a version of the Multiverse Theory, one of those more popular theories of reality that's floating around the scientific communities at the moment. In essence: anything can happen, will happen. Each and every possibility that has ever and will ever happen can, has, and will happen, and each time it does, it creates it own universe which continues along it's own path, forever branching into more and more possibilities into infinity. This is, of course, an EXTREME simplification of the theory, however it works well enough to explain just what we've done here.

In Chapter #679 we find out that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki has the ability to teleport into and control the physical laws of separate dimensions using an ability of her Third Eye known as Amenominaka. In a similar vein, we have Kamui, the well known ability of Obito Uchiha and Kakahi Hatake.

The point of this is: different, alternate, whatever you want to call them, dimensions are something that, at least in the universe of Naruto, exist. And this leads us to the history, and plot, of this site.

In the early days of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, she was worshiped as a god, and the savior of the world. She brought peace to a world weary of war and violence, and if not for the corrupting power of the Juubi chakra, would have fully achieved her dream of creating a Utopian world. During this time, thousands of different groups of people would form sects dedicated to Kaguya and her message of peace and love. As time progressed and Kaguya's mind was warped by her power; many of these sects re-purposed themselves as fighters for her cause; the pure and unwavering dedication to their 'God' enough to make them fight for the end of the world. They believed the only the most dedicated and 'pure' followers of the Rabbit Goddess would be saved from destruction and be allowed to live and rule the new world they worked to bring about.

After the battle between Kaguya and her sons, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki and Hamura Ōtsutsuki, these sects of 'true believers' would switch sides, as it were. Publicly, they where reformed and began to follow the ways of either Hagoromo or Hamura in order to survive. They went underground in a way, focusing their various power bases into different causes. Some worked to bring back their goddess, other worked to bring down the reigning powers so that they could install their leaders into the world's power bases so that they could shape and lead the world as they saw fit. There where plenty of small thinking groups among the outcasts, however; there was one super fanatical sect that wanted more.

They didn't just want power. They wanted absolute and perfect control over EVERYTHING. Every heart, mind, and soul that could and did exist. Anywhere. Forever. As the years and generations passed, they took the legends and knowledge of Kaguya and formulated a plan. If the Rabbit Goddess could move to different dimensions, why couldn't they? What was to say that she hadn't allowed other peoples to live in these other dimensions? Did they know of her perfection, of her glory and her wisdom? Where they to as enlightened? Could they know more, have more knowledge of the great goddess? Could it be that she retreated to one of her other dimensions when her ungrateful bastard sons drove her from this world? All these questions and more; and after a time, an answer was found.

Using the knowledge of the Rabbit Goddess and combining it with the explosion of new abilities and powers granted by the weaponization of chakra into Ninjutsu and the other disciplines of Ninja; specifically Fuuinjutsu and Space-Time Ninjutsu, the sect began to create a gateway between worlds; a way to move to these other dimensions. Using the wasted chakra and life energy of the fighters and dying peoples in the myriad of wars being fought across the planet; they would tear a hole in space and time, and send their people through to spread their doctrines and philosophies across the multiverse, until all worshiped and venerated the Rabbit Goddess as they did.

A full generation of wars passed while the gate was built and charged with power; until at last the time was right. Thousands of followers assembled and where broken into hundreds of groups to be sent through the gate. Each trip would be one way; the gate itself only allowed for travel to the new dimensions, there way no way for them to return unless they managed to somehow build a similar gate on the other side.

The day finally came, and the gate was opened. Over and over again the gate was activated, each trip draining a small amount of the stored chakra in order to create a pathway to a different dimension. To each dimension, one group was sent; never knowing what, if anything, they would find on the other side. Would the dimension be habitable? Would there be a planet to land on, would the air be breathable, water to drink, eatable food. Could the dimension be empty of peoples, a hell or a paradise? It was truly a venture into the unknown; and each group undertook the journey willingly, if only for the chance to fulfill their purpose, or the chance to be united with their goddess once more.

One of the many groups was lucky enough to land in a dimension that not only supported life as they understood it; but was a veritable paradise compared to the world in which they left. At the time of their arrival, the world had been at peace for many generations; the people had no idea what hell had been unleashed upon them.

In the centuries to come, the outlanders came to be known as the Rabbit Sect. They waged a holy war upon the natives that lasted for the better part of 300 years; the chakra within their bodies allowed them live far longer than normal in this new world, and gave them abilities that had no equal. The natives had no concept of chakra, nor the skills and tactics that the outlanders used. For many years it looked as though the Rabbit Sect would accomplish their objective of taking over and converting their new world to their religion; right until the moment that they first resistance group was able to capture one of their members alive. Weeks and months of study finally gave them what they needed; a knowledge of the tricks and abilities the outlanders had and a way for the native to use them against them. While chakra as the outlanders understood did not exist in this world, legends of a 'life force' of the world itself did, and using those legends in conjunction with the knowledge gained from the hostages, the resistance group was able to create their own version of chakra, and harness it in a manner similar to that of the Rabbit Sect. Sharing this knowledge with the other resistance groups caused the tides of war to turn; for a very long time the only advantage the Sect had was their superior powers. One of their fighters was the equal and sometimes better of hundreds of natives. Now? A small group of experienced fighters could take out the shock troopers of the Rabbit Sect without the mind boggling casualty rates that had caused a war of atrophy for so very long.

As the years continued to pass and the natives grew in power and experience, the armies of Rabbit Sect began to fall, their numbers had always been smaller and where non-replaceable, at least not in a way that made the loss of even a single member recoverable. Even the natives that willingly converted could not make up for the loss of the outlanders that where now dying off in droves, both from age and battles. From the time of the initial capture and study of the out lander to the end of the world was a grand total of 25 years. Their forces decimated beyond repair, the Rabbit Sect fled underground; retreating from the surface world with their tails between their legs; licking their wounds and harboring an intense hatred for the outlanders that drove them away.

Above ground, the natives worked to rebuild their ruined world and move on; the various resistance groups left standing divvying up the world among themselves and creating new countries and governments to oversee the reconstruction processes. The influence of the outlanders was immense. New concepts, words, philosophies, abilities... sciences, mathematics, invasive plants and animals from the other world; all worked to change the future of the natives. Thanks to the influence of the other world and the Rabbit Sect, this new world began to develop much in the same way as the old had; militaristic city-states filled with ninja protecting larger countries of civilians, the life energy of the world used like the chakra of the old, ninja arts and abilities spreading across the world.

For a thousand generations, the world developed in it's own way. The legends of the Rabbit Sect where buried, fading into just another legend of a war that few remembered and even fewer knew the details of. Recorded in history as the 'First War', the peoples of the current era live their lives blissfully unaware of just how close they came to being forced into servitude of a religious Oligarchy. The current era is peaceful enough, and the people like it that way.

Deep underground in the caves beneath a land forgotten to time, the last of the Rabbit Sect was stirring. The descendants of the original group have plotted and worked for generations, recovering what power they could and creating a new army to attempt to take over the world once more. Soon this new army will be released upon an unsuspecting world; which army wins will be determined by which side is stronger; the natives with their standing armies and peaceful ways, or the converts to the Rabbit Sect with voices singing of war and hearts tainted by the madness of Kaguya brought to bare across a new world.
