| - Searing Inferno Flame Blast. B-Rank:
Name: Fire Release: Searing Inferno Flame Blast (Katon: Yōnajigokuhonō Bakuhatsu - 火遁・地獄炎爆発) Canon/Custom: Custom Rank: B Type: Offensive Element: Katon Range: 50 meters Specialty: Ninjutsu Duration: -25 chakra per post Cooldown: Duration + 6 Description: A technique where chakra kneaded inside the body is converted into fire, and then expelled from the mouth in a massive wall of intense flames which covers an expansive range, making it extremely difficult to avoid or block. The walls of this jutsu reach a maximum of 10 meters high.
Alright, he had a few days to get some power training in, and he planned on using it. He'd made a bunch of phone calls and worked his schedule out so that his shifts at the center where covered for the next month, and he'd turned in his request for paid vacation. Like hell he wasn't going to abuse that, he had months of it stored up, so he might as well get some use of it before it started expiring. Coen was having a 'I must clean!' day, and was busy throwing everyone out of the house so that he could scrub it down. He did this every so often, and he'd explained such to Artemis so that she didn't feel like he was reacting to her and Fa Mulan being there. They where being perfect house guests so far, and if things kept going this nicely, he'd make the arrangement long term. Not that it couldn't be now, he had no intention of randomly throwing her out as it was, but she'd eventually need some paperwork and such proving she had a stable place to live, or else someone would start causing problems with Fa, and he wasn't about to let her go through that for no reason. It was days like this that he was glad that he had so much room to work and train in now; he'd been able to set up what was basically a fire room; the far edge of his backyard was a wall of a building; so he'd dipping into his savings to have the wall fitted with fire-proofing in the form of steel plating over a fire retardant foam; he'd gone all out and made sure it was so efficient that he could blast it all day with his hottest flames and you could touch the inside of the wall and it be cool to the touch. It was a solid three stories tall, and by making sure that the landscaping ended with enough room to allow him to train to his hearts content without risking starting shit on fire that didn't need to be. The extra lot was so damn big that it left Coen plenty of room to enjoy the grass and such, a large shade tree, a small herb and vegetable garden, and even a little koi pond; with more than enough left over for a training area, the gear storage, a training room, and enough space to have a little jogging track. It was wonderful, and with any luck he'd be able to score the lot on the west side of his apartment and add it to his property. The owner was old and looking to sell the building, and he didn't really need the building. It wasn't in use anymore anyway, so no one would miss it. He'd have enough room with that to convert his space into a proper compound, and put up the fence and everything. Awesome ideas he had, but that was for another day. Under the shade tree was the 'gear' he'd need for the day; some training pads for later, a few fire extinguishers for safety's sake, his weapons for when he got around to working on kata and the like, and beside all that and outside of the shade itself was the special egg; it was sitting in it's nest and was settled nicely in the sun to keep it warm. The cracks in the shell where getting easier to see, but it was still solid. It was almost like only the jeweled outer shell was cracking, but not enough to break all the way through. However, he was absolutely sure he could feel something moving around inside of the egg now, and that had him excited. He was dying to learn what was inside of the egg, and he really wanted to meet the newest member of his little family. He was thinking that was why Coen was in cleaning mode, the young kangaroo could sense things about the egg that Karu couldn't, so his sudden interest in cleaning and making the house perfect was a reaction to the egg hatching finally. "Soon, little one, soon." He reached for the sky, stretching long and allowing his entire body to reset and settle comfortably. Once he was done with that, he moved to the center of the training area set aside for working on fire skills. This was going to be interesting. The jutsu itself wasn't complex, it was just a lot of fire, with a lot of power, held out for a long time. Or rather, for as long as one possibly could. It was one he'd been wanting to learn for a long time, and it would work wonderfully for him. He was taking the time to learn ranged attacks recently, and this was perfect for his style of fighting. He'd be able to make a massive wall of flames to act as a barrier or a literal wall to contain a fight where he needed it to be. Even if he had to go big, he preferred to mediate the damage he caused; the less collateral damage the better. The fewer people he put at risk, the better. Once he was in place, he settled into himself, in a way. He was going to start with breathing exercises, the way he always did when he started working on fire. Inhale. Focus. Exhale. Focus. Inhale. Focus. Feel the air in your throat. Exhale. Focus. Feel the heated air leave your lungs. Inhale. Focus on the air in your lungs. Feel the chakra mix into it. Exhale. Feel the heat. Focus on the heat. Maintain the heat. Inhale. Deeper. More air. Exhale. Control the flow. Control the rate. Shape the throat and mouth to control the flames shape. Inhale. Mix the chakra. Heat the air. Focus on the rate of release. Exhale. Don't let the fire control you. Control the fire. Inhale. Deeply. Deeper. More air. And. Exhale the flames. More. More fire. Control the fire. Inhale. As much air as you can. Deeper. Fill your lungs to capacity. Exhale. That's is. Maintain the flames. Maintain the fire. Hold it. Feel the heat. Feel the way it dances over your lips. Taste the smoky flavor. Inhale. That's it. Exhale. No smoke. No ash. Just pure, true fire. Fire and flames. Exhale it all, until there's nothing left. Inhale. Air and chakra. Make the flames. Exhale. Fire and flame controlled and focused. Good. That was it. Simple, easy. Nothing to it. Inhale. Focus. Exhale. Focus. Inhale. Focus. Feel the air in your throat. Exhale. Focus. Feel the heated air leave your lungs. Inhale. Focus on the air in your lungs. Feel the chakra mix into it. Exhale. Feel the heat. Focus on the heat. Maintain the heat. Inhale. Deeper. More air. Exhale. Control the flow. Control the rate. Shape the throat and mouth to control the flames shape. Inhale. Mix the chakra. Heat the air. Focus on the rate of release. Exhale. Don't let the fire control you. Control the fire. Inhale. Deeply. Deeper. More air. And. Exhale the flames. More. More fire. Control the fire. Inhale. As much air as you can. Deeper. Fill your lungs to capacity. Exhale. That's is. Maintain the flames. Maintain the fire. Hold it. Feel the heat. Feel the way it dances over your lips. Taste the smoky flavor. Inhale. That's it. Exhale. No smoke. No ash. Just pure, true fire. Fire and flames. Exhale it all, until there's nothing left. Inhale. Air and chakra. Make the flames. Exhale. Release the pure fire. That should be enough of that. He was physically warm now, his inner fire was stoked high and bright, it was one of the few times he ever felt 'warm', and while pleasant, he was actually a bit concerned by just how warm he was. It was... wow. His fires where getting hotter, all of his hard work and training was really paying off. It wasn't that long ago that he'd nearly hurt himself taking his fires half this hot, but now he was total and complete control, and the fire was little more than the warmth of the sun on his back on a summer day. Not unpleasant in the least. He loved it, and was almost tempted to try to take it higher, but he knew better. He'd keep it at this level, he had full control of it right now, and it should be more than hot enough to do what he needed. He inhaled until his lungs where full of air and compressed it, releasing a massive stream of flames that reared high into the air once it impacted the ground; spreading wide until it was covering almost the entirety of the specially covered wall, and reaching almost to the top of it. Awesome. That was basically what he was trying to do with this, and the scorched metal was enough evidence of the power of those flames. Good enough for him. | - Searing Napalm. A-Rank:
Name: Fire Style: Searing Napalm (Katon: Nenshou Napaamu - 火遁・燃焼ナパーム Canon/Custom: Custom Rank: A Type: Offensive Element: Katon Range: 50 meters Specialty: Ninjutsu Duration: 1 post Cooldown: 5 posts Description: The user first converts their chakra into a flammable liquid and and shoots it at their target. The user then exhales a steady stream of fire from their nose to ignite the liquid. This jutsu works one of three ways. The first way is to shoot all of the flammable liquid at once, which is powerful, but unfocused and doesn't last long. The second way is to shoot the flammable liquid in a continuous stream, which is slightly weaker, but is easier to control and lasts longer. The third way is to shoot the flammable liquid in multiple smaller blasts. The third way is the weakest, but enables the user to hit multiple targets. This technique is highly beneficial because the flammable liquid sticks to whatever it hits, causing it to burn longer. The napalm liquid will stick to any surface for a maximum of 2 posts before vaporizing harmlessly and becoming inert.
Now that he'd done a fairly good job of blackening the steel plates, it was time to clean them off and make sure they had time to properly cool down before he hit them again. He took good care of his stuff, and he made double sure to keep the fire proofing and safety equipment he used in even better shape. Even under the char, the plates where bright red hot, the air around them was warping from the heat and a stiff breeze was being caused by the heat rising and causing a thermal inversion effect. Across the area he walked, toward the side of the training room he'd set up. Several different insulated boxes and switches where attached there, a few where the normal power and water meters, others where controls for the landscape watering system or the koi pond, the rest where part of his fire control measures. He lifted the lid on one of the better protected boxes and flipped a few of the switches inside. From the ground at the base of the wall, as well as from the sides and top, appeared a series of nozzles connected to special pipes. These nozzles began releasing a special foam that would sap the heat from the plates at a controlled, but accelerated rate; it also kept the air from causing the steel from oxidizing and weakening during the cooling process. He'd have to temper the steel later on, but that was simple enough. It would take a few hours for the steel to cool this way, but that was fine. The next jutsu he wanted to train didn't need as much protection, and the foam itself would make for a good target. It hardened in the presence of air, creating a shell on the outside that would keep it from spreading beyond where it was intended, and acting as a heat barrier. It also gave him a solid surface to hit with things while the wall cooled. That was basically what he needed, anyway. Something solid to hit, that could handle the heat when stuff exploded. That it would choke the fire off quickly meant little, the point of this wasn't so much the fire as it was what lead up to the fire. That was the fun part, he'd never done anything like this, and it was... complex. With no experience in creating flammable liquids, he'd have to basically acquire a new set of skills and learn a new jutsu at the exact same time. Weeeee.~ The premise was simple enough, making what was essentially liquid napalm; although that was a bit redundant, as napalm itself was just an extremely viscous liquid that was extremely sticky and highly flammable. It was only 'solid' when mixed with a special clay that didn't deactivate it on contact. When mixed with the clay, you ended up with a variant of the C4 explosive clay that you see certain earth-style users, as well as explosion and sometimes even puppet masters, use. It was nasty stuff, chemically unstable in a lot of ways, and nearly impossible to put out once lit. It had to be smothered using certain methods; mostly via earth or other special chemicals that would suffocate it. Water did jack and all, and trying to blow it out would do even less. He was doing this here, even as dangerous as it was, specifically for how dangerous it was. The only other place in the village that was 'safe' for this kind of training was down in the caldera, in the volcanic training fields that only the Jounin had access too. He met the requirements to get a pass to them now, even without the rank, but he didn't feel like dealing with the headache, and Temaki didn't have time to deal with asinine requests and such. Well, training wasn't really asinine; but she had to catch up on a weeks worth of paperwork, on top of getting ahead and setting up paperwork and whatnot to let them travel. It wasn't as easy for higher ranking village members to leave as it was for say, a Genin or Chunnin, or even a civilian. Paperwork got exponentially worse as you moved up in ranks, he'd figured that out pretty early. He did not envy anyone in administration. Now that he was sure that his safety measures where set up and he could relax for a bit; he moved back to his bag of gears and such. Inside was a few scrolls he'd checked out from the ninja library; with his rank he had access to a lot of the restricted materials containing high ranking and highly dangerous techniques. He had about a dozen checked out at the moment, but he wasn't going to go through them all at once. That'd be... insane, and he didn't want to destroy himself right before going on vacation; he planned on enjoying himself if he could, and being in terrible physical shape, both body and chakra wise, wouldn't lend well toward that goal. A few new jutsu, some work on his basic skill sets, and he'd be fine. He dug around in the bag for a moment and retrieved a specific scroll; it was sealed tightly and marked 'Searing Napalm' on the seal. Every jutsu scroll of this level carried a special seal that could only be opened by someone with the right knowledge and a special 'key'. He'd only just been given the 'key' to scrolls of this caliber, so while he was able to check them out and train them, he was limiting the number of them he trained at any given time. He'd only work over one A-rank jutsu before leaving for Hanagakure, and finish the rest when he came home. While in terms of 'war' and 'ninja strength' and all that noise, having only one 'secret' super powerful jutsu before entering another country full of possible hostiles; they where a military country too after all, even if Hinowagakure and Hanagakure had always been on fair to good terms with each other, as they where neighbors and worked together during wildfire seasons many years; it was still better to be prepared than not. He activated the chakra in his hand and tuned it a specific way, activating the key that would unlock the scroll and allow him to read it again. If he tried to break the seal without using the key, several things would happen, and in very quick succession. First, the inside of the scroll would be blank. Entirely, utterly, blank. Part of the key activated the chakra ink that was otherwise invisible. It also made the ink harmless, in the sense that if it was expose to the air without being activated properly, it would instantly combust and burn the scroll away entirely; the fire created would be blue-white and impossible to put out before the scroll was damaged beyond repair and recovery. It was also set up to cause the fire to spread; in the hopes of damaging, if not killing, and thief that steals the scroll. It would burn out after a while, obviously; this wasn't eternal fire or some insane demonic chakra blaze after all. It was just extremely hot and extremely potent. Now that they scroll was opened properly, he took a few minutes to read it over again. He'd studied it the night before, and he was pretty sure he'd gotten everything he needed down, academically anyway. At this level, you got more than just a diagram and a few lines of what chakra to use; you where given detailed breakdowns of everything from the proper positions of hands and body to exact ratios of chakra to mix, as well as in depth analysis of the jutsu in motion from the creators and masters, when possible. These scrolls where packed with information that was needed to self teach the jutsu; the kind of things you would learn from observing and training with someone that already knows it. All of that information was filled in for you, but that was no substitute for a trainer. He was used to self-training, however; until he'd started learning from Temaki he'd been almost entirely self-taught; he'd graduated the academy and basically stopped training with other people, as his original squad had fallen apart very, very quickly. Once he was satisfied, he rolled and resealed the scroll, placing it back into his bag and shifted so that he could stand up. Once at his feet, he moved the egg to check on it again; he'd started checking on it just about hourly now, to make sure that he was there when it properly started hatching. Finding it in the same condition as before, he returned to the center of the training area where he'd stood before. It was the best spot to work from, it gave him the most room for safety's sake. Alright, now... turning fire chakra into a flammable liquid wasn't that difficult in concept. It really wasn't. It was all about condensing it until it was so thick that it came out as a liquid stream, not as a flame or smoke. He was already warmed up, and was still running hot, so he didn't really need to worry about working up his flames, nor get his chakra flowing. It already was, so that saved him a lot of time and effort. He shifted into his favorite training position, it allowed him to gather as much breath as possible and keep his body as clear of the flames coming from his mouth as possible. Inhaling deeply, he held the air in his lungs and began feeding his chakra into it at an accelerated rate, and using his control of his lungs and throat to condense it as much as he could. After a while, the fire in his lung would stop growing hotter, there was no way for it to get hotter without being able to expand, and that was a good thing. He didn't need the napalm liquid to be 'hot', it just had to be liquid. The formation of the liquid itself would cause it to cool significantly; a matter phase change like that would make it cool down, because of how liquids function. Or something. Civilian level schooling was a bit of a blur for him after all this time, they didn't cover physics much in the ninja academy. It was more learn by doing versus learn by reading. Worked for him, really; he was tactile in his learning over all, even if he was perfectly capable of learning from books and lectures. Oh, that was a new feeling. He really had no idea what to expect, but the chakra infused air was definitely taking on a vastly different feel than normal. It was starting to remind him of when he was a child and nearly drowned in the river; he was normally a great swimmer, but he'd smacked his head as he fell in, and the stun from the blow kept him from acting promptly, and he'd ended up inhaling water and nearly suffocating. If not for a medic ninja that had been teaching his kid how to swim nearby, he might well have died that day. It was an unsettling feeling, but not unpleasant, if only because this mass in his lungs was hot and comforting, not cold and nasty. Alright, let's see what he had. He constricted his throat and lips, allowing him to release a focused stream. Exhaling firmly, he released a stream of liquid that was a tad thin, but still liquid, and, if the way it was clinging to the foam on the wall indicated, was extremely sticky. Awesome. He cleared the liquid from his lungs and inhaled deeply, enjoying the feeling of clean air for a few moments before creating another batch of the liquid. This time, he released it along with a stream of flames from his nose, causing the liquid napalm to ignite and fly like a stream of sticky, flaming, death. Awesome. Let's see... that was the flamethrower style. He had some of the liquid left in his lungs, so he tried out blasting blobs of it at random targets; finding it to be an easy enough idea. There was one other way to do this; and he needed to get a full load of the liquid again; taking the moment to charge up a batch and releasing the constriction on his throat so that he could basically spit the entire blob of it at once; causing it to impact and 'splash' over a large area. Awesome. He blasted the liquid with another burst of fire and left it to burn away on it's own; it wouldn't last that long, and the fire safety measures where active already, so he could relax for a bit. 2191 + 47 = 2238 2238/2000 B-Rank Jutsu Fire Style: Searing Napalm 238 remaining

| Relaxing took the form of setting up the training room for later. He was going to work on his kata and such a bit later, and he didn't want to waste time setting up when he got that far. The napalm liquid was still burning away outside, but that wasn't a concern; it would start burning down fairly soon, and the fire control measures hadn't triggered, nor did it seem to be taking a turn toward out of control, so he was relaxed and not worried. He made his way inside of the old shed he'd converted to a mix of training and storage room. The mats where still down on the floor from the last time he'd trained; he hadn't planned on spending a week gone like he had, so he ended up leaving them down with the expectation of resuming his training the next day. Well, that next day had turned into a week secluded away doing... things that didn't need to be talked about outside of specific company; and that he really shouldn't think about when he was fired up and such. It would lead to a lot of things not getting done, and he really wanted to get at least some decent training in. With his fire worked up, it was the perfect time to focus on controlling it better. He had some serious levels of control already, but he could always be better; there was always room to improve and grow; to get better and work on a higher level. He'd been focusing recently on the 'go big or go home' styles; with his working on improving his ranged and large scale attacking, he was starting to feel like he was losing that pinpoint control that his Taijutsu nature needed; and that was bad. He wasn't about to start ignoring his roots, ignoring what his true passion was just because he could make a better show with Ninjutsu and flashy attacks.
To that end, he'd work on his control of his fires, then focus on some good old fashioned martial arts training. Focus the flames, then strengthen the body; that was his plan for this next part of his day. He wouldn't need that long to work on his fire control; it didn't take a lot to refresh and adapt. He just needed to adapt his control to fit his stronger, hotter flames; his endurance was trained and appropriate for his fires, so he could just focus on control, as well as pushing his natural and mental limiters to adjust to the changes in his power. That was actually extremely easy; it was just a matter of exposing himself to the flames long enough to adjust; but not in the same way he did when working on a new jutsu. No, this was pure fire; pure chakra; no adjustments or added things or weird ratios or whatever to complicate things.
That was for a bit later, though.
For now, he was working on setting things up inside. The doors that allowed access to the gear room where wide open at the moment, he was taking inventory of what he had, and making notes of what needed replacing soon. He had a multitude of mannequins to work with, each set up for different martial styles and purposes. Everything from kata, to basic attack dummies, all the way up to the highly specialized dummies used for training martial styles that focused pressure points, for anything from causing paralysis to causing beneficial effects. He refused to focus on a single martial style; as it stood he was rated as a master in at four styles, proficient in three more, and at least adequate in three more. He was looking to pick up at least one more before he settled for a while; ten styles was more than most people could name; outside of say, variants of major art styles; he knew ten completely unrelated martial styles, and was able to mix and match them almost perfectly. He was always working to train them together, work out new and better combinations and ways to use them together.
Weapons and such hanging on the walls where ignored entirely; he was finding that he didn't really work well with weapons, beyond his fists and knives; the largest weapon he was really comfortable using in battle was his kunai blade, and even that was less for actual attacking and more for finishing things before they even started; he'd retired his staff recently when he realized that he was basically never going to use it properly. Training with it was all fine and dandy, but it didn't work well with his battle style, at least right now. Maybe one day he'd come back to it, or maybe not. Either way, it had joined the wall of practice weapons; along with a multitude of other items. Rope darts, three sectioned staffs, spears, tanto and swords, all manner of weaponry. It was as much for decoration as for training at this point, with few of them eve leaving their place on the wall once they where put there.
Selection of the mannequins was simple enough; he was going for basic training really, not so much for anything specialized. The basic attack dummies, three in total; selected and moved from the neatly arraigned lines they stood in normally. One at a time, he'd made sure to buy the ones that where extremely durable and therefore massively heavy; even to him. The cores where metal, solid steel, with real bamboo and special padding that gave all of the feel, density, and whatnot of the normal human body. About the only thing that wasn't natural about them was their weight, each was close to 800 lbs total due to the steel cores; and that made them extremely popular with high ranking Taijutsu users. They could beat on them for days any never fully destroy them, and being able to manhandle one of these was 'proof' of their strength. He just liked them because he could burn them during training and only have to replace the cheap bamboo and cloth, versus the entire dummy.
Each was lifted, one at a time, and carried to the middle of the training room, where they where arraigned in a pattern that would allow him to work on both individual kata, as well as combination attacks. Once they where set in place, he moved back into the storage room to gather more of the gear he would need. This time, he retrieved the special fire resistant hand wraps that he used when training; he didn't wear his gloves when he trained basic martial skills; he only used bandages like a normal Taijutsu practitioner. The bandages where made of chakra cloth, to allow them to be resistant to fire and heat; even when he wasn't using chakra outright, he tended to get really hot when training, it was inevitable when his body was so attuned to fire and heat. He'd rather not have his hands lighting on fire when he wasn't planning on it, especially when he was using gear that wasn't fire retardant or fire proof, or when he was training inside.
Wrapping the cloth took a few minutes, he was extremely well practiced at wrapping his hands and feet, but he always took his time and made sure it was done right; that way he didn't have to worry about the cloth rubbing wrong and causing blisters, or the protection being weaker in spots and him risking taking more damage than was needed, or worse damage anyway, at those spots. Around the wrist to start, moving up the palm and to the fingers, each wrapped to the top of the first knuckle, around and around and around, in figure eights and circular patterns until the bandages where thickly laid and he was happy with the wrapping. He'd grabbed four rolls of the cloth; two where used to wrap his hands, and the other two would come into play next. He removed his sandals and unwrapped his normal ankle wraps. It was thinner cloth that was comfortable with his sandals and his field boots; but it offered no protection where he needed it, and almost no support once his foot ware was removed. Starting at the center of his foot, he began wrapping overlapping layers until he reached the awkward area of his heel and ankle; moving the bandages up so that he was wrapping downward from above the ankle for lower calf support, and to give a second solid anchor spot. Once that was done, he began working around the ankle and heel in a figure eight pattern, overlapping and firmly wrapped without being tight, until the entirety of his foot was wrapped save for the area from the balls his feet to the toes, and from the base of the calf downward. The process was repeated with his other foot until he was ready to go. Standing, he flexed his ankles and rotated on his heels a bit, making sure that he hadn't tied them too tight, and that circulation wasn't being cut off. Finding the fit comfortable, he picked up around himself a bit, making sure to return all the storage containers and such to their proper place so that the floor and training area would be clear for him to work in.
Now he was stuck with a bit of an impasse. Did he want to work on his fire first, like he'd originally planned, or did he just want to get the physical training done now, and work on fire later?
Actually, working on the Taijutsu training right now would likely be best. Yeah, it went against his original plan, but whatever, flexibility and all that jazz. It was all the same, really; it wasn't like he was training under some specific regimen, nor with someone else. He was by himself, and training alone, so he could do whatever he wanted. While he liked working with people, and he loved working with Coen, he always had been a bit of a loner when it came to training; he preferred to work alone unless he was specifically doing something that required a partner, that way he could push himself to his limits at his own pace, not while working around someone else's limits and such. That was rarely fun, unless it was someone that was willing to give him the same courtesy and do as much to work with him as he did with them. That was a rare trait to find in people, even more so among Taijutsu users. They weren't all loners, they just hated to have to work to other people's pace, outside of working with specific partners, teams, and the like.
Alright. Now then; he'd made his decision on what he wanted to train, so he should probably get to work.
Let's see now; the general purpose mannequins where good for literally everything but pressure point training and anything that required cutting entirely through something. Slicing into the fabric and bamboo was fine, but trying to cut entirely through one of these would be... difficult at best, impossible at worst. Well, not for him, if he used his fire he could melt through the steel, but that wasn't helpful, and it was expensive to replace these. You didn't see them outside of the high level training areas and specialty training rooms for a reason.
So, lets take this nice and easy. Simple punches and kicks, remember your basic kata and forms. First kata, a basic combo. A flurry of punches to the chest, followed by a spin kick to the head, and finished with either a hammer kick once the target fell, or a palm strike if they where still standing.
Chest punch, chest punch, chest punch, spin kick, palm strike. He'd work on that version of the kata first.

Alright, that was enough of that one. Now for the other. He took the time to push the second mannequin to the floor to give him something to hit with the ax kick, they where positioned perfectly to launch into the proper kick and allow him to swing back and repeat.

Yep, that was good. Second kata. A circular triple attack, he would basically be dancing around the three targets the entire time he was doing it. Because of that, he needed to lift the second mannequin off the floor and set it upright. That was harder than putting it down, as gravity was working against him now, and the shape and weight distribution wasn't conducive to being lifted easily. It wouldn't take him long, though; he was plenty strong, and although it was hard, and he very nearly dropped it on his toes a few times while shifting it along and around the stand base, but he got it up. Once it was, he walked it backwards a bit, setting it into a new position right where he needed it. Moving to the first mannequin, he shifted it a few feet to the left and forward, putting it into the right position to start from. The third was left where it was, as it was already pretty much right for this. Now granted, in battle the targets you moved around would never be in the perfect spot like they where here, but you had to get the basics and muscle memory down before you tweaked it to moving targets.
This kata was pretty simple; artistic and a bit flashier than he normally liked, but extremely effective. Using fluid movements, you literally danced around the targets in a circular patterns, making yourself extraordinarily difficult to hit, putting your targets in the line of fire from their allies while getting out yourself, and attacking from strange angles that couldn't be easily guarded.
It started with a bob and weave, dart in and chop at the neck, before whirling around and delivering a palm strike to the ribs, and finishing with a stomp to the back of the leg and a punch to the base of the skull. All the while moving in circles, darting, and dancing just out of range of their attacks, and never standing still long enough to be hit by anyone around you.

When done right, you end up in a completely different spot than you started, but perfectly ready to dart right back in and use it again. It was the type of move that you could use over and over until you ran out of targets; perfect for large crowds of enemy combatants. Let's see, he wasn't even starting to sweat yet, so he'd keep working. Three kata really wasn't much training anymore, his training style was about mastering what he had, not having a massive amount of half trained and barely usable skills.
What else would be good right now...?
Actually... he could dig another mannequin out and work on the few weapons he used. Kunai and Shuriken practice wasn't below him; he was a dead shot, and was getting pretty damn proficient with the kunai blade, but he could always do better. He had a few hundred practice weapons stored in the room, so he'd do that for a bit. He'd go back to kata training after; better to take a break and do something else to keep his body guessing and keep the gains from this training high. He went to the doors of the storage area and opened them, moving back to the mannequins and moving them to their proper storage spot one at a time. It was slow work, but it was training in it's own right; it was strength building after all, they did way a full 800 lbs a piece, and that was still heavy enough to be noticeable to him. Enough to make his muscles strain, and that was what he needed. It was that strain that made him stronger, and he wanted to get stronger; not to be the best or the strongest, but so that he could protect his family, his friends, his people, his country, and himself. Most of all, to be able to protect Coen, and to protect Temaki, and the little guy that would be hatching from the egg bathing in the sun outside; he tossed a glance at said egg through a window to make sure it was alright, smiling at the way the sun glinted and danced off the marking and colors of the shell. He could almost see the lines of the cracks even at this distance, but it was just a play of the light. He could sense it was still just a bit too soon; he had time to kill; he wasn't sure how he knew, but he did, and he'd long ago learned to trust his instincts.
One the heavy mannequins where stored, he moved to the box filled with the various training targets and such; retrieving over a dozen of them to hang across the training room. He didn't feel like working on long range just yet, so he'd focus on close and mid-range for the moment. It took him a good five minutes to set out the targets all over the place, at various heights and angles. Once this was done, he grabbed for the smaller, lighter, training mannequins; these where the cheap, easily replaced ones that you used for weaponry practice, or just in general, because you could slice them up, burn them to a crisp, beat them into a pulp, and not miss them at all. These he set about at random, sticking a few of the ranged targets on them to give himself more targets. Once everything was set up, he opened the chest with the wooden practice kunai, shuriken, and his wooden kunai blade, making sure they where in good shape before he started using them. Satisfied, he closed the chest and dragged it into the main room, setting it against the wall just beside the door. He closed off the storage room and reached into the chest, grabbing the basic six kunai that one would start with. He'd do it in a specific way, dance and move around the room while throwing the kunai at the targets, or slashing at a mannequin, then race back to get more in a sort of speed trail. Once he ran out of kunai, he'd move on to shuriken.
To the center of the room he moved, and raised his arm with a single kunai in his hand to chest level, in the common stance that move ninja took when starting a fight with the small knives.

Aaand he was out of kunai. Well, that was a way to break the rhythm. Too bad, he was having fun. Oh well. He spent the next five minutes gathering up the used kunai, the inside of the room looked spiky from all the kunai sticking out of the walls and such. It didn't take that long, really, to gather up the three hundred or so kunai and stick them back in storage. With that task done, he moved the storage chest a bit and rearranged the insides some; moving the containers inside of the chest filled with shuriken up to the top of for easier grabbing. Once that was done, he grabbed his first handful of shuriken and moved to the center of the room to start. He'd be using a similar style here; only he'd be moving between a shuriken storm and basic throwing. The shuriken storm style required massive numbers of shuriken flying in all directions at once, while the basic throwing was just that, basic throwing.
The storm would be first; he'd go through more of them using that method and need to gather them up after a while.
He grabbed handful after handful of the shuriken and stuffed them into his sleeves and pouches, until he was holding so many it was slightly uncomfortable. He didn't really like this style much, he never could understand how people could carry hundreds of kunai and shuriken on their person at all times without using a summoning seal or something.
To the center of the room he returned; shifting his body into a specific stance that allowed him to throw his weight around and shift into a spin that he'd need to use.
Into said spin he went, and then shuriken where flying everywhere.

Holy fuck the dizzy was real. Gods, that was enough of that. He barely managed to stumble out the main door and into the grass to puke; he hadn't had a large breakfast, but there was still a bit of food left in his stomach; or there was, now it was slowly baking dry in the sun in the grass. Okay. That was just not fun. Or, it was, until he'd needed to puke. He really needed to spend more time working on that style if he was ever going to use it; he still got dizzy to the point of nauseous when he trained it, so he'd need to work on it more. The mental note was made, and after a bottle of water was used to rinse his mouth, and a few moments of sitting to let his head clear, he was ready to get back to work. He took the few minutes to gather the shuriken back up and put them back into the container. He'd just reach down to grab them when needed for this next part, he was going to be target throwing, versus storming across the room.
Simple enough.

And emptiness achieved. Woooo. Once more, he was cleaning up the gear from the walls and mannequins, returning the shuriken to their container one last time for the day. He opened the doors and dragged the chest back into the room, taking it to it's designated spot and taking one last moment to make sure everything was in the right spot inside of it, before closing it and moving on. To the wall of weapons next, reaching for the wooden kunai blade and lifting it from the holders that kept it there. Once it was down, he checked it over to make sure it was in good shape. It was a little worn and the lacquer was chipping in places, but that was fine. He'd replace it later; but it would work fine for now.
He'd left the cheap training mannequins out, and they would be fine where they where. He didn't need to move them, he could use them as they where and still get the training done. The kunai blade couldn't really cut, since it was made of wood and had a rounded edge, versus having a metal covering or some other edge reinforcement that allowed for a sharp edge to be overlapped on onto the wood. That was fine, as hard as he hit, he'd be shattering the dummies more than likely.
Alright, time to get to work. He darted into the room with the kunai blade raised high and started slashing and chopping at the dummies at random.

Well, three and the blade. It snapped in half on that last slash. Wonderful. That... was likely a sign that it was time for a break. He glanced outside and up at the sun, guessing the time and realizing he'd been at it for a way to long. Yep, time for a break.
