Appearance!

Height:
4 Feet, 4 Inches
Weight: 70.5 Pounds
Hair Color: Light Purple
Eye Color: Light Purple
General Description: Espi likes purple, it's her absolute favorite color. Her hairs and eyes are a natural light purple in color, and her skin tends to be pale year round. A red dot can be found just underneath of her bangs in the center of her forehead. She stands at four feet, four inches tall, and weighs seventy and a half pounds. She's of slender build, preferring always to fight with her mind rather then her body.

Her hair is kept short, ending at her shoulders, and cut evenly across. Her bangs are cut in a straight line and rest just above her eyebrows.

Espi's outfit is rather unique. All of it is the same light purple color as her eyes and hair and consists of a hat which she wears her Hitai-ate around, a purple shift that seems to be the mixture between a tank top and a poncho; which beneath this is worn a purple tank top. Purple bell styled shorts are also worn with this. On her feet, the only thing of a different color then the rest of her, are her shinobi sandals which are a deep blue in color.

About You!
Personality: Espi is a very soft spoken female.

While not outright antisocial she is never the one to start a conversation. When in large groups, or among crowds, she tends to simply sit quietly and observe rather then take part in what is being said. She prefers to act as the listener within her group of friends, rather than choosing another part.

When Espi does bother speaking up it's normally to offer up some sort of knowledge or detail that has been otherwise missed: because she is ever observing she tends to notice things more often then not that others might have missed.

Espi is quick to laugh and quick to smile: a naturally cheerful person. It takes a great deal to make her show anger towards someone, and she's rarely sad. She's the type of person who always sees the glass as half full instead of half empty: always trying to see the best in people even when there is little to be found. She likes to believe that even in the darkest places a little light shines.

Espi can come off a bit more childish then she probably should be as a full fledged Genin: always liking to have her head in some sort of game, preferably Pokemon games. However, there is a reason to this: even games such as that can help one to develop tactical skills, force ones mind to think and focus, making them exactly the sort of games that Espi likes to play.

She is the sort to like to take the smoothest route possible: she will watch her opponent, analyze them, and then use that information to acquire victory of them as easily as possible. She isn't above using things to out-smart people either – though she tends to keep how exactly she did that to herself when it does happen. She's very secretive, and doesn't share information easily, both about herself and others.

History: From the time that Espi was born she as a very fortunate child: she had a mother and a father that loved her greatly and dotted on her each chance they got. She had more extended family then she could count, and plenty of cousins to play with daily. Her mother owned a stall in the market, selling fine jewelry and silks, and her father was an experienced Jounin. From the time she could walk and talk she played in the markets, learning the various trades, and often being given candy or other gifts and treats by the shop owners who found her cute or adorable.

When not busy playing in the markets she could often be found sitting on her mothers knee, or on a stool nearby, listening quietly and patiently to what was going on around her. Because of this she picked up on her mother's trade quite quickly. She learned the differences in the silks her mother sold, and learned how to both make and repair jewelery. All of this also gave her experience in math, and mental puzzles: her mother often allowed her to handle the money under her careful supervision to allow Espi hands on experience as well.

When Espi's father was home from missions she often sat at home with him when younger, listening to him retell his stories and adventures. She hung off of his every word, usually closing her eyes while she listened so that she could picture the epic battles and heroic tales in her mind while he told them. When she got older he began to train her when he was home, teaching her everything from ninjutsu, to genjutsu, to taijutsu, to the very basics of medical ninjutsu. Espi caught on quick enough, which made both her mother and father very proud.

When she wasn't training one of the jutsu arts her father often entertained her with mental puzzles and riddles designed to test her mind and keep her on her toes: these were what she loved best. Games that were meant to test tactical thinking were among her favorites chosen.

When Espi was old enough she given the choice: she could follow in her mother's footsteps and continue to learn the trade to then eventually take over the stall, or she could be enrolled into the village's Academy and become a shinobi like her father. Espi gave the choice great thought: she loved the markets and the people, but she also wanted to do more with her life – she wanted a chance to put her skills and what she knew into action and do something with them. With the Academy being the choice picked she was enrolled.

Espi's time in the Academy was mostly uneventful: she had several good friends, and many more people that she knew and who liked her well enough. She was never at the forefront of conversation, but often chose to sit back and listen. This worried her teachers at first, but soon they realized that this was just a quirk of hers, one that she often was able to use for her own advantage: therefore they let it go without another thought. Espi excelled well, not exactly the top student in her class, but close enough. She always put in a great deal of effort to her studies, though it was clear to her teachers that she liked to avoid the more physical aspects of her training. She likely would have gotten bottom marks with how little physical effort she put in if it wasn't for how much mental effort she put in that made up for it: she often in spars beat her opponent in as little as three or less moves, defeating them without so much as breaking a sweat. She wasn't lazy, as they all quickly noticed, she just preferred to do things in as physically easy a way as possible with great mental feats that children her age often couldn't pull off.

On the day of graduation her mostly uneventful life became one of great interest. While her and her classmates were waiting to have their names called and their Hitai-ate given out in front of their parents and family assembled a sort of darkness fell upon the entire assembly hall: several missing-nin were in their midst, both in the village itself and at the graduation – one of them had obviously thought it would be fun or amusing to disturb such a momentous occasion.

Several of her classmates were killed nearly instantly while panic broke out among the crowd. Those who were shinobi attempted to fight off and put a stop to this darkness, but it wasn't to be so easy. Espi after noticing how several of her classmates were dead found herself eye to eye with the criminal causing the disruption. Espi was frozen in fear, but she wouldn't die that day: instead a vial and nasty genjutsu meant to trap her in her own personal version of hell itself was cast upon her and she was defenseless to stop it. Her own saving grace came in the form of her father who in his attempt to save not only his daughter but the other villagers around sliced the criminal across the neck with a chakra scalpel. Upon the criminal's death the genjutsu was broken, but not before it could cause mental harm to the child.

Espi spent several days in the hospital, and then weeks after that in a special ward for the 'mentally impaired'. Her cognitive functions were intact, but there was something wrong with Espi's personality: despite what had happened to her she was continuously happy and smiling. The doctors waited for a mental break, for her to snap and lose that happiness, but it never came. Eventually they decided to release her, saying that she was to receive follow up care at the hands of an out-patient doctor. Because they could find nothing actually wrong with her outside of an inability to be anything but happy a good ninety-eight percent of the time, she was given her Hitai-ate and became a Genin – though, without the fan fare given how fresh the massacre from the graduation was.

And so Espi became a full fledged Genin of her village...

RP Sample: “When you've walked through Hell then what else could be so bad in the world?”, Espi said softly as she looked up from the small Gameboy in her hands. The Pokemon Ruby music was playing softly in the otherwise quiet room of the psychiatrists office. Her light purple colored eyes rested on the female doctor with the horn rimmed framed glasses. The woman glanced up from her notes, saw that Espi was looking at her, and smiled.

“Is that what you think you've done, Espi? Walked through Hell?”, the woman asked, trying hard to keep the amusement from showing out of her green eyes. This was how it was every visit: Espi would utter a 'naughty' word in a very calm and relaxed voice and expect it not to affect any of the adults in the room. Thankfully, the female doctor wasn't bothered by it, more amused then anything, but her male nurse blanched at the ten years old's word choice. But, that was just how Espi was: she was blunt and truthful, and told things how she saw them.

“I suppose I didn't actually walk physically; but I did so in my mind. And I was in Hell, even if it was just the illusion of the place.”, Espi answered calmly before looking down to her hand-held once more. Buttons were pressed as she continued on, legs that were too short to reach the floor swinging back and forth beneath the underside of her chair as she quietly continued to play her game and wait for yet another question to be asked of her. The doctor watched Espi for another second or two and then looked back down at her notes. She picked up her pen and began writing again, adding more to what she already had.

Espi knew that the notebook page would be filled before they were done, it was the same way with each and every visit. Still, Espi didn't mind: the woman was nice and her voice was lovely to listen to, plus Espi would be given a lollipop at the end – two if her doctor was in a particularly good mood.
