Appearance! Height: 6 feet, 2 inches. Weight: 185 lbs Hair Color: Red Eye Color: Brown General Description: Yudai has a stern and generally serious appearance, with chiseled features and narrow eyes. His red hair often is spiked and tossed about, covering most of his forehead with shade. One of the most notable features is a spherical bronze piercing, just below his lower lip, that blends well in with his skin. His nude lips and average nose aid in giving him the appearance of a superior, and this can often be intimidating for those who do not know him. For his general choice in clothes and garb, he generally wears traditional shinobi sandals, and a white clothed pants. Above, he has a fitted breastplate, fashioned of steel but colored in tones of gold, that outlines the lines of his abdominal. Across his shoulders, he wears a similar white cloth, used to cover up his neck and back in the hot sun. Shackled on each of his wrists are two golden bracelets, a symbol of his eternal service to his people and his village. As a final piece, he has another piece of golden armor that is worn across his left shoulder, as a tribute to his family. His father had worn the same piece in his last day of service in the military. About You! Personality: To most onlookers, Yudai is a serious, and methodical leader. His body language and expressions he makes with his face often gives off a tone of superiority. His organization and calculative nature causes him to think about the capabilities of his troops and the force of his shinobi constantly, and he often spends little time relaxing. In his opinion, he has a grand task ahead of him, and every action he takes has an outcome to further his ideals and his country. His desires to expand his numbers, and provide for his people has led to a burning fire within him. Most find it best not to get in his way. However, for those that Yudai is familiar with, he would do anything to protect them. His hardened exterior only protects his fear of loneliness and being unwanted and unneeded. His friends often find comfort in his company, as he is always looking for a good conversation or to spar with worthy competitors. However, he finds the most enjoyment in mentoring other shinobi and watching them excel at their arts. He looks to redefine what is possible by pushing his students beyond the limits they have placed on themselves, and in time, he hopes they shall one day succeed him in becoming Kouyakage. History:During the Golden Age of the merchants, Yudai was born into the Kurotsuchi clan. His parents, both shinobi, were extremely loving, and provided him with a warm home and a comforting environment to grow up in. The clan had invested much of their time ensuring that their offspring were well taken care of, and it was not uncommon in peaceful times for parents to take a year off from military service. During this time, their family was always together, and the three were always seen together. At the end of this year, his parents returned to field work, and Yudai was left to be raised by the remaining clansmen. Around the age of three, he began to sit in on clan meetings, and wanted to work and help others as best as he could. He would accompany any of the shinobi on their days off, or even watch them spar against each other. Since his parents were absent frequently, both receiving promotions into ANBU, it was his dream to become a great shinobi like them, so that the three of them would never be alone again. The only thing to fill his thoughts was serving on a squad with his mother and father, completing the most difficult of tasks with little effort. Around five years old, Yudai was accepted as an Academy Student of Yokuchigakure, and he couldn't be more excited. This was his first venture outside of being accompanied by members of his clan, and it was great to meet a number of different people just like him. For the next four years, he would excel as a learner, trying his best to emulate what was being taught. In addition, he was well liked by the other students, and he enjoyed making new friends. For the first time in his life, this was a period where he didn't feel the pressures of his clan weighing him down. Towards the end of his student years, he found that he had a particular knack for ninjutsu, and enjoyed learning it much more than that of genjutsu, kenjutsu, or even taijutsu. In his mind, ninjutsu was so versatile and limitless, it was clearly the most useful. He was given a new sensei, and devoted all of his time to perfecting his craft. In a short time, he learned of his Katon affinity, fitting for a shinobi in a warm climate, and he wanted to learn new jutsu to demonstrate his skills. During his graduation examination, he displayed his skill in elemental ninjutsu, impressed a lot of his fellow students, and was promoted to genin by age nine. Yudai was placed into a squad of four, counting himself. The group consisted of his peers, a taijutsu specialist and a genjutsu user, and his sensei, who was proficient and qualified in almost every art. Together they completed a number of missions, anything from cleaning the city streets, to sorting out merchant problems, to protection of nearby caravans. Many of the rookie class came to know about Squad 6 as a powerhouse, and did everything they could to become friends with its members. To Yudai's joy, a number of other shinobi came to love him, and he almost felt like a celebrity. However, things took a turn for the worse a few years after his graduation. When he was 12, Yudai's parents were a part of an infiltration mission that took a turn for the worse. His parents had been captured by rogue criminals of the village, and were tortured for days on end to extract information. The ANBU forces that were available squandered together and raided the compound, only to find two Kurotsuchi family ninja corpses, lying coldly on the ground. Their bodies were covered in burn marks and abrasions. A service was held in their honor in the village, and gathered around Yudai were his friends from the academy, his clansmen, and the people of the village who respected the clan. However, days after the service ended, Yudai's personality began to change. His happy go lucky demeanor turned into a cold and calculated conviction, and he never stopped training. His emotions had become tucked away and hardened, and he even grew distrustful of his remaining clansmen. He moved out of the clan's compound, and requested to be transferred to a different unit within the village. At the age of 13, his transfer had been approved, and the Kouyakage had reassigned him to an ANBU trainee squad. This change of pace is just what he needed to move past the death of his parents. He was learning tactics for the toughest of operations, and he much perferred serving as a bodyguard to a wealthy and honest merchant as opposed to walking dogs or searching for lost pets. He could think of no better service than to become an ANBU member, just like his parents had. Still mourning the pain of their loss, he vowed every day to become a bit stronger. His suffering gave him purpose, and his strength was well used. Gangs of mercenaries and rogue ninja ran rampant across the city, and ANBU members were constantly on assignment. For years, Yudai had observed the marketplace, keeping constant watch for smugglers, and capturing rogue ninja for the interrogation unit. He took it upon himself weekly to pick up the latest copy of the Yokuchigakure Bingo Book, and to find as many of those traitors he deemed unworthy of living. Relentless in his pursuit, and his liberal use of his elemental ninjutsu, the underground had begun to call him, "The Salamander of the Sands." His efforts had allowed him to rise to a captain position at age 21, after a two year assignment led to the fall of an international smuggling ring. Becoming a captain had been the best time for Yudai. His leadership and finesse allowed him to accomplish many missions, and his team had been very supportive. Over time, Yudai's hard exterior had slowly started to crumble. At this point, he was on good terms with his squad, and they enjoyed his company. From the outside though, he was as cold as ever. During a village festival, ANBU had been scattered across the city in order to keep watch for anything suspicious. The large influx of visitors had made it difficult to keep track of everyone. One night, the Kage was assassinated in his own home, before the killer was detained, questioned, and disposed of. The city was leaderless, and in a time of heavy violence, needed a strong leader who was mentally prepared for such a task. His companions thought of no better candidate than himself. After a time of serious corruption, Yudai had done his best to sweep out any traitors and to institute grand reforms concerning merchants within the city. His massive changes led to a rebirth of the village, and people even began to call him "The Shodai Kouyakage" even though they had stopped counting many years before. His short time spent in office, which currently is about six months, has demonstrated his ability to lead, and many of the villagers foresee the coming of the second Golden Age under his leadership. While a strong leader, the position has made him very lonely and isolated from the rest of his village. His conviction to protect no matter what the cost often pushes people away before they truly meet him, but all he really wants is to be appreciated as a person rather than for his strength. In order for Yudai to continue to lead his people, happily mind you, he'll need the help of many shinobi to relate his ideas to the village, and to guide him on his path. Even in the wake of an economic boom, all can be lost if the steadfast leader can't gain the support of his village. RP Sample: - Spoiler:
The sand swept across the dunes as Yudai returned from the desert. He had departed for a bit of fresh air; his office had been quite stuffy with the summer heat. Two chuunin stood watch over the front gate, and after seeing the Kouyakage, their posture tightened into a salute. As he crossed their path, he flaunted his hand to wave them off, muttering as he walked by, "Save it for the battlefield."
He proceeded to the market in order to get to the administration building. The air was filled with shouting and laughter, and the streets were packed with people of the village. A variety of goods were offered in what was considered the capital of trade in all of the lands. From the finest silks, to furniture befitting of kings, to kunai and shuriken that were forged by master craftsmen. Anything one could dream of was present in the bazaar. The price however was not so easily imagined.
"Stop that boy!" he heard a merchant scream. Down the path, a young boy was being chased by a merchant, pushing many villagers and flipping over boxes full of wares to be sold. Yudai took his right hand into a hand seal, noticing the boy was quickly approaching, and used a Body Flicker technique. Before the child knew it, Yudai was standing before him, blocking his path. Without even looking, the kid ran straight into the Kage's leg. He slowly looked up in fear, quivering now that he realized who he had upset.
As the merchant caught up, Yudai noticed the boy was holding a pair of shinobi quality sandals in his hand. "There's the brat that stole from me!" the merchant yelled. "I'm so sorry that this incident had to involve you Lord Kouyakage, and yet I am so thankful that I am greeted by your presence." This merchant was all talk, and Yudai grew tired of his barking. He held his hand up to make it clear; he wanted this greedy businessman to quit his blabbering.
Yudai knelled down, his eyes meeting the child's, and he spoke softly. The only two able to hear the message were those involved in the conversation. The merchant, now making his point clear, "My lord, you are giving back the sandals. And I expect the full penalty for this sort of crime. Stealing is worth the loss of a hand." Yudai held his hand alongside the face of the crying boy, and wiped his thumb across his face, moving the tear from his cheek. He took the sandals and threw them towards the shoemaker, in order to get him to shut up. "And the penalty?" he snickered.
"There will be no such penalty. You should keep a better eye on your stall," the Kage said bluntly. He patted the child on the back, a signal that it was time for the boy to leave. "It is a shinobi's duty to lie, steal, cheat, the system, all in order to protect the good of this nation. If one can't be allowed to practice, how is he supposed to get better," Yudai laughed. He turned his back on the crowd, and continued walking towards his office, and the pile of paperwork that was sure to be there. All around him, the people stared, isolating him from the general citizen of the village. Even worse those around him whispered,
"Salamander...."
"King of the Sands...."
No one would address him as "friend" or "Yudai." He longed for shinobi to walk this path alongside him. He needed a way to numb the pain of being alone. And he would wait, and wait......

| I'm not against you starting with Lava release, I just need you to fix the coding for it. You're allowed to have a second specialty if you want due to your starting rank, otherwise you're going to have to spend the time training it. Okay, you're short on your history. From the Rank Guide:
- Kage/Jounin (S-Rank): 1,200+ Words
I'm getting 1142 using the on site WC widget, and that's being generous cause it's usually about 20 or so over the count you'd get using MSWord or something. Also, please take the history out of spoilers. If the sub section where longer, I could understand doing this, but they really don't require it and it makes checking WCs a pain. Because you're apping for a Kage, your RP Sample MUST be related to the character itself.

| Updated.
*Fixed the Lava release, I think starting at B-Rank should be fair, plus I plan on training it soon for character development.
*Thanks for the tip on specializations, I'll take an extra one!
*I have up'ed the word count on the history, adding a few sentences here and there. It should now be about 1300 words.
*I have swapped out my sample writing for a piece I just wrote about my character.
Let me know if you need anything else.

| B-rank is fine, although you have the option of making them auto-S cause Kage perks.
Your WC is a hair over 1300, so that's fine now.
Soon as Jai looks this over, you should be good to go.
