Mission name: Planer Lost? Mission rank: D Objective: Find the Carpenter's Plane Location: All Villages Reward: 1 Word = 1 Ryo | 100 Word Minimum Mission description: A local carpenter has lost his plane, a tool used for making flat surfaces out of wood. While not an uncommon tool, the carpenter highly values this particular piece of equipment as it is a family heirloom. The ancient village symbol is carved into the wooden handle, making this tool fairly easy to distinguish. Mission details: Beyond a few cats or small animals, you won't likely find much in the way of problems finding this tool. Just make sure to bring it back in one piece; a screw is loose in the handle and if it breaks the tool will come apart in a way that cannot be fixed. If this happens, you will fail.
Okay, this he could do. He even knew what a planer was, his father was a bit of a DIY wood worker, and had one that he used to make swings and level the tops of tables and chests. He saw the mission listing and grabbed it without a second thought, taking off from the mission room and off to where the guy claimed he lost it. Not surprising, or it wasn't when he got there. A construction site that had run into some problems; a bit of a nasty storm had raced through the village the night before and trashed the site pretty hard. Stuff was everywhere, half finished wall frames destroyed, and a metric truckton of tools where missing in the rubble. This was the only tool that was being hunted for, though; the rest could be replaced, this was the carpenters personal tool, not a company issue; and it had a bit of a history within his family. Needless to say, he was upset that it was missing. He flashed his ID and mission papers to the guard at the entrance to the site and walked in, checking in with both the carpenter and the site supervisor. "Please, just find it. I have to get it back.""Of course. Let me dig around for a few hours, and I'll find it."He wandered off and into the mess near where the carpenter's work station was and began lifting boards and moving stuff around. A good twenty minutes confirmed it wasn't there, so he moved on to the next block; the area was set up in a grid pattern already, so it was easy to move that way. The next grid section was empty, as was the next, and the next. Huh. He went back to the start and moved the other direction, working over another three sections until he made it around and to the center of the site. A good twenty minutes of digging and he was rewarded for his dedication. Mixed in with a bunch of other broken tools was the, thankfully, intact planer sitting pretty and clean in a little hallow space. He extracted it from the mess and made his way back to the poor carpenter, returning it with a smile. "Here ya go.""Oh thank the gods. Thank you so much.""No worries. Enjoy.~"WC: 411/100 | |
