Too calm as most would say, he keeps his actions and reactions controlled with extreme personal discipline. His people see him as an enigma of self-control, an indominable willpower of steel and unbending resolve. Despite his cold nature and appearance, he always has the best interests in mind for those around him: whether it be cultivating their talents or killing them because they pose a serious threat to his village, Itami is always taking people into consideration. He can be a bit sarcastic or unresponsive, he lets his actions and masked-smile do most of the talking. Teasing others is something he thoroughly enjoys, whether it's simply playful teasing or harrassment during an intense battle. As far as paperwork and other diplomatic responsibilities are concerned, he takes them very serious and always tries to get them accomplished as quickly as possible. History:(1501 words) - Birth:
Itami's parents were two prominent people from the village of Hinowagakure no Sato: his father was a diplomat, an enjoy to other villages. His mother was a devout worshiper at the Temple of the Sages. His father was a man of conviction and peace, often leading long arguments to peaceful outcomes: his mother, a motivational religious speaker who guided those who sought peace and enlightenment at the temple. Two important figures in the peaceful village that had eventually met during one of Itami's fahter's trips to the temple- word got around fast that his mother, Tenma had fallen in love with the diplomat Osu. His mother was admired by men and women all over the village: often being praised as being a goddess of beauty. Naturally, there was much jealousy when Tenma married Osu. Soon they gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and named him Itami.
The time they spent together as a family was very brief. Itami would grow up not knowing or seeing his father: Osu had gone on another peaceful venture as a diplomat for his village and was attacked by bandits along the way. The peaceful and gentle man that he was, he believed that all problems could be settled with compassion. Never learning to properly fight, he was murdered while pleading for mercy.
- Childhood:
Itami grew up with only his mother to support him. She was often at the temple and gone for long portions of the day: he had often went with her to the temple as a much younger child when she could carry him around and even now, he occasionally went with her when she could relax. For the most part though, he was left to raise himself. His mother would come home two or three times a week and make sure he had the food and clothing he needed. She taught him how to cook, do laundry and clean the house. By the time he was eight years old, he was basically an adult and could fully support his own living.
In Itami's free-time, he would get to "know" his father by reading the letters Uso had sent to his mother on his travels. All of the records Uso kept of his successful diplomacy missions, as well as the failures. Itami learned a lot of the history between the villages and the land, the benefits and weaknesses of the villages and as to why there was conflicts between them. Though relatively peaceful in nature, the conflict was internal between seats of government. Knowing the fate of his father, he slowly began to scoff at his father's doctrine of peace and compassion. If it had worked, his father would still be alive right? Ultimately, he grew up seeing his father as a fool and his mother as a religious fanatic.
By the time he turned ten years old, he had already learned a little bit about Ninjutsu. He raised himself and had all the necessary time to observe others and learn from them. He joined the Shinobi Academy and excelled where others failed. He learned about the tactics and practical low-level ninjutsu skills the academy offered. They taught him several diplomatic points about his village, which he had already learned through his father's journeys. He graduated at the top of his class, with no one near his level of knowledge or practical employment of jutsu.
- Genin:
By the time he was twelve years old, those who knew of the mature boy, often called or labeled him as a prodigy. A cold-hearted yet mature boy who took his role as a shinobi very seriously. He was assigned on a team with two others, two females and a female Jounin sensei. Being the only boy on his team, he was inadvertently relied on a lot, but also spoiled and liked by his two teammates. They constantly competed for his attention, but he was too distant of a child to know anything of love. He learned to smile and pretend and make others happy while deceiving them or not really caring at all.
On one of the more difficult missions, his Sensei was given invalid information which ultimately lead to the death of his two female teammates. After his sensei and he had finished killing off all of their assailants, he sat between the two dying girls and held their hands, crying for them and telling them it would be "alright" They died with smiles on their faces and then he turned away, wiped his tears and returned his composed face. His sensei always shuddered at his ability to lie so convincingly like he actually cared, she too often had to recheck and remind herself not to believe in most things he said or did.
- Chuunin:
After the death of his two female teammates, he refused to take on more teammates and his sensei understood and agreed. Itami worked best alone, not having to rely and protect others. In the Chuunin exams, it was brutal for everyone, but he excelled because he could keep a low profile while observing his foes and misleading their information. By now, he had learned about his family's heritage, the Kouton element that his father had apparently been blessed with and yet he had never used it. Itami used it quite well, he used it and vowed to himself that he would become someone better and more reliable than his weak father. During the Chuunin exams, he had slaughtered the young shinobi from other villages while protecting the shinobi of his village. He believed that the best way to accomplish anything, was through power and using those around him. His villagers made great subordinates even though they were around his age: few of them possessed the calm logical processing his had and he naturally began to gravitate towards a position of leadership.
- Jounin:
Having devoted his days as a Chuunin to doing missions for the village, success after success as well as his personal skill and leadership qualities lead him to the position of Jounin as a very young age. By the time he was fifteen years old, his mental and physical state were beyond that of some of the veteran Jounin. He was entrusted delicate missions of "diplomacy" and even was given three young Genin to lead until they had passed their Chuunin exams.
Itami remained a Jounin for many years, from ages fifteen to twenty two years of age, he remained a Jounin and served his village while getting to know the leaders of the village. The kage, the elders and even the other Jounin. To him, it was valuable to know and understand those closest to him, to know if they were reliable and good people. Over those years, he learned a great deal from the prior Rakuenkage and the Rakuenkage relied on him greatly. His kage knew that he was a good man, though somewhat different than the common shinobi. Often times in the latter years of the Rakuenkage's life, the kage took Itami with him when he traveled or simply out for strolls through the village: Itami was his protection, but he was also Itami's guiding light. Not having a fatherly figure to look up to and learn from, the Rakuenkage knew of his past and even knew his mother quite well. Even in her old age, she was still quite beautiful and the kage had once upon a time loved her.
He saw Itami as a son somewhat and used his last few years of life to teach Itami about what he needed to know and prepared the young man for the responsibilities that were ahead of him.
- Kage:
Upon the Kage's death, there was much grieving across the village. A ceremony was held on their behalf and the congregations mourned the loss of a great leader. Itami too cried, bearing a saddened expression when he truly felt nothing of pain- simply a pity that such a good man was no longer around. Even though the Kage had only just died, murmurs could be heard through the crowds, almost unanimously agreeing that the next Rakuenkage had already been decided.
For people who gossiped and exaggerated a lot, Itami held his neutral face- these people were right. They already knew who would be the next Kae even though it had not yet been announced. While still alive, the Rakuenkage and the village elders had already agreed that Itami was the best candidate for leadership. It was only three days after the late Rakuenkage's funeral that the next Rakuenkage was announced. Not surprised, the villagers supported Itami. No one objected even though ther were surely a few jealous. Itami himself was not surprised or overwhelmed- he pretended to be surprised and fooled every but those elders who had already decided. They knew that the Silver Fox was the next best Rakuenkage. The name Silver Fox, was a title he had earned while in the days of being a Jounin: a well suited name for such a sly smiling man.
RP Sample: Itami sat at his new desk- a heavily polished and elaborately carved wooden desk which held vast amounts of paperwork atop it. For many years, Itami had been just a boy on the other side of that desk, taking orders from the deceased Rakuenkage and never once envying the position he held- for the Rakuenkage was always doing mountains of paperwork. How ironic that I would be the one to take up his mantle and lead the village after his death. he would tell himself on occasion. He would sit at the desk for hours doing paperwork, smiling like a fox involuntarily- his body not moving and his eyes seemingly closed while only his hands moved to fill out the necessary information. People who visited, often wondered if he was alive, or possibly sleeping. There was just too much work to be accomplished to really celebrate his position of Kage. Not that he truly had anyone he wished to celebrate with. He had attended a village-wide celebration to welcome him as their new leader, he had played along with it and pretended to enjoy it thoroughly. Now he had to focus on the work. Three days without a Kage had really hurt the village's paperwork. People were trying to get things approved in shady means and Itami had to be very precise and take it slow to ensure nothing illegal was done while he was the Rakuenkage. He tapped his fingers four times in a certain rhythm, this signaled his secretary, a former ANBU operative that Itami himself trusted greatly. The masked man bowed low and awaited a command. Bring methe list of new Genin, I need to find suitable Jounin to assign them to for teams.Faceclaim: Gin Ichiaru, Bleach | |
